Gotta love it. A challenge from the Cardinals five batters into the season.
Shelby gave up 3 homers and 6 earned runs in the 4th tonight. Not an ideal start in Arizona for him.
Also, if Arizona is going for it they should be regretting not taking Miller and Viz for Pollock right about now. It sure would be nice to have Inciarte in CF, Blair not far off, and Swanson too for the future. IOW, that they turned down the Braves offer and came back with what they did after the Miami trade talks fell through looks really stupid already. Not that it ever seemed wise IMO.
The Padres have combined for 6 hits and 0 runs in the first two games against the Dodgers.
Not really. You can't judge it on that. And I don't think we ever truly wanted Pollock in return, I think our plan the whole time was to demand him because we knew they wouldn't give him to us so that when we changed the demand, it seemed like relief to Arizona.
Sure I can, I just did. Also, those reporting on the talks don't agree with you concerning the Braves and Pollock. IOW, Braves were clearly interested in him and wanted him in those early talks. They asked for him in a number of deals, including Miller for Pollock straight up to start, and various multi-player deals early and late in the talks. Further, this shouldn't be a surprise as they have a track record of locking onto certain players and of course a lot of teams would have strong interest in Pollock.
To be fair we have no idea what exactly was discussed in those deals. Reportedly we offered Miller and Viz in a deal for Pollock, but we have no clue what other moving parts may have been discussed. May be the proposed deal included Blair or Swanson also?
Not saying you are wrong, but I don't recall reading that, and my lazy 2 minute google of this information returned no articles saying of such.
The only articles I found reported that the Braves offered Miller and Viz for Pollock and Blair. But again, without being in the room, there is zero way of knowing what offers were actually made.
Man... Padres shut out again... 0-3 with 0 runs scored
