Around MLB 2016 style

Figured out what Dan Uggla is up to now.

You can't see Dan in this picture, but I heard he was supplying wind with his mighty contact-avoiding swing to power windmills throughout the country. He's probably getting a letter of commendation from President Obama for being one of the largest contributors to the green energy plan.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing. He's a ****ing National(s) treasure.

He was never what I would call dominant. I will grant that he has pitched well at junctures, but I don't think he's a TOR guy and that is what I think of when I think of dominant.

Look at his splits in 2014, he was actually poor out of the bullpen to start the year (including a 4.70 ERA) but in his 24 starts he was very solid and quite dominate often just as his 2.59 ERA as a starter suggests. His issue in 2014 was very poor run support as he lost a lot of 1-0 and 2-1 games late. Plus Fredi left him in too long in many of those games IMO. Further, MLB Network among others had a listing of top lefty starters heading into last season and Wood was high on that list.

Per MLBTR: "Star Diamondbacks outfielder A.J. Pollock won’t begin baseball activities for another three months, Dr. Don Sheridan told reporters including Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic (Twitter). As was initially suspected, Pollock may miss the entire season, although there’s at least a chance he’ll return to action late in the year."

at least we play this way and aren't expected to contend, this really hurts for the Dbacks. The Cubs can absorb a Schwarber loss with their depth, Arizona probably can't.

if soler keeps striking out at or around 30%, they will certainly be looking for someone later on in the year.

I wonder if the Braves might try and target someone like Kevin Plawecki. Might be tough getting him from a division opponent, but he's blocked and could be a good buy-low candidate.

It would figure we'd choose to let him go and he'd come back strong. I really don't trust the Braves judgment in this area anymore like I use to.

It just seems so hard to believe though that he'd be hitting 96 and comfortably averaging 93. It could be a wonky radar gun. His average FB velocity for his career below:

2010: 90.9
2011: 90.9
2012: 90.3
2013: 90.4
2014: 90.5

It could be a the gun is off a bit, but either way it suggests that his fastball velocity must be back to show up that high so good news for the Royals and Minor.

Very skeptical

Color me skeptical.

Not buying that Minor is sitting at 93 and touching 96....... has to be a gun/user issue.

That's like when a college football player runs a 4.33 at his pro day, but is actually at 4.55 type guy at the combine.

Terry Collins trying to kill the Mets in the 2nd week of April. Familia 2 inning save in his 3rd day in a row and 4 out of 5. Also ran Henderson out there vs. a lefty a night after throwing 34 pitches.
