And Hampton could at least swing the bat!!
Debatable. Price is getting 30 million annually and he's a mid 4 ERA pitcher.
So Price is a mid 4 ERA pitcher, even though this is the first year he's had an ERA over 3.59 since his rookie year in 2009? 3 of those years with an ERA under 3... Boston isn't the easiest home park to pitch in.
I don't care what he did in 2011 or any season prior to this one. He signs a mega contract and all of sudden he's mediocre. Regardless of what he's done in the past his ERA is what it is and that's makes him a mid 4 pitcher right now.
Price's FIP is 3.38. He has a K rate of almost 10/9 and a BB rate under 2/9. This is dumb.
So he's worth 30 million a season then?
Okay, when he signed the contract he was easily one of the top 5, if not top 3 pitchers in baseball... I'm sure he's probably sucking on purpose now.
And way to use ERA to back up your argument. God you are so baseball clueless.
And you are the typical advanced stats jerk who talks down to everyone who doesn't use your stats. ERA is a pretty standard benchmark for any pitcher. If using that makes me clueless then so is 99 percent of the baseball world.
Again... when he signed the deal, which is what his worth would have been based on unless the Red Sox had a magic crystal ball... he was one of the top 3-5 pitchers in baseball... its arguable he is certainly worth that to a team that has tons of disposable money.
He's pitched sub-par and has entered the 30 age bracket. He may have been a top 3-5 optic her when he signed, but certainly isn't one now.
So if he was a top 3-5 pitcher when he signed, he was certainly worth it... Again, I guess the rich Red Sox should have had a magic crystal ball.

So... Simba is hitting .281 and playing GG defense. Yay.

With a sub .700 OPS, a .084 ISO, 3 stolen bases... I'm not too sad.
While it's a fairly small sample, he has been hitting .333 with a .805 OPS in 31 games since his return from the DL.
