Around MLB 2017

Ben Zobrist has now been the beneficiary of two of the worst third strike calls to end the game in the past few years. One was egregious in 2013 when Joe Nathan got a strike 3 call out on Zobrist/Rays with Texas as the ball was at least a foot outside. Then last night against Arizona was awful as well.

I'd be all over it. I know it's been said a million times, but see if they'll bite on Kemp, Allard and somebody like Pache. They'll clear around 8 million for the next 2 years bc of Kemp then when he's gone they'll be completely free of Stantons deal and get a top 50 prospect and borderline top 100 back. Stanton, Acuna, and Inciarte would be a very productive OF.

I'm pretty sure we could have him for free if we wanted.

Him clearing waivers probably means that yeah. But if we wanted to clear Kemp off the books which we'd probably need to do to add that much salary, then we would probably have to entice them to take him.

The beneficiary?

Wainwright going back to st.louis to get his elbow checked out. Sounds like elbow soreness/discomfort. Hasn't thrown harder than 90 mph in last 2 games. If you are a cards fan you are holding your breath

Well, yeah, but I still don't see how that would be possible. Even if it's what he's worth, there's no way Miami is giving him away and getting nothing in return.

They put him on waivers and no one claimed him. I think it is safe to say, they would give that contract away if they could.

I don't believe this. You don't just get him for free if you claim him. They've states they're open to trading him, but there's no way they could give him away, even with that contract. He's murdering baseball right now.

His contract is probably the worst in baseball and the marlins cant really afford him next year much less when he's owed 30 million.

The marlins will have to eat dollars to move him or catch a giant market team on the right day --

And the thing is-- this is probably the most value under this contract that he will ever have.
