Around the League: 2017 offseason edition / 2018 Season

Yankees may have lost Montgomery for a while. They are in all in mode so maybe they will overpay for a guy like Teheran.

Now that's a team I think we lineup with well.

I don't know why they'd want Julio in that park, but I can see them making a move for an established innings-eater like Teheran.

Matt Harvey got the DFA from the Mets after refusing a minor league assignment

Would you take a flyer on him, if he would accept a minor league assignment with an opt out to see if he can figure it out

I saw that too and MLBTR noted he had a 6.00 ERA in AAA this year. I doubt he does well vs Houston if he cannot do better than that in AAA. I wish him the best though.

He’s been hurt by the longball (which probably doesn’t bode well), but he’s had a strong k-rate (9 per 9), and I’d expect his bb-rate (4 per 9) to improve, given his history. Small sample, regardless, but I wouldn’t bet against the little guy.

I am not so much betting against him as I am betting on Houston. I rather him get his first start against the Mets. I would like his chances better vs them.

Pujols reaches 3000 hits.

Ichiro has about 3100 plus his 1278 NPB hits.

Markakis headed fast for 2100. Can he reach 3000?

Freeman at 1122 after less than 8 full seasons. If he can keep his wrists healthy he might can get there.

Pujols is such a beast. One of the best to ever play the game.

1122 hits in 7.25 seasons avgs out to 154.8 hits per season. At that pace, he would have to play 19.4 seasons. He is 28; I'm not sure he can sustain that pace till age 40. Hope he does though

I was just comparing Freeman's stats to Chipper's to see if he could possibly be on a HoF career. What I learned was --- Chipper sure was good. I think I forgot how good he was.

Freeman has a shot at the HOF but he needs to keep this level of play up for a lot longer than most 1B last.

He's pretty well put together, so he might last longer than most. His height might eventually stress his knees.

Then there is the DH.
