Around the League: 2017 offseason edition / 2018 Season

Yup

Honestly the more I think about the proposed trade the more I say **** yeah.

If you have a lineup that consists of Acuna, Albies, Trout, Freeman, Camargo, catchers, Swanson and go find yourself a defense first CF. Leonys Martin probably can be had for pretty cheap, or hell just promote Pache. With Trout in LF that's a plus(maybe plus-plus) defense OF, plus-plus defense IF, and almost certainly 4 guys who're near top of their position offensively and a few interesting options.

The trade stings because of losing Allard and a ton of pitching depth as we'd lose Newcome, Touki, Wright and Anderson, but we'd still have Folty, Gausman, Allard, Gohara, Fried, Wentz, Wilson, Muller, and Tarnok as rated B- or higher by sickels (or in the rotation already obviously with Folty and Gausman) that's still a heck of a pool to pull from. Of course some of them will flame out and suck, but it would make way too much sense to make this move to get Trout the best player in the game.

Allard would hurt the worst for you? He sucks. I don't think you're paying much attention this year Zeets... you've been saying some odd things

I think it was a typo, since he subsequently says “we’d still have [...] Allard”. Assuming he means losing Anderson would hurt the worst.

I hope so. Although if all we have left pitching prospect wise is Allard, barf. I wouldn't do a deal like that ever. We are going to be stacked without Trout and the early returns look great on Touki in the majors. And I can't also get rid of Wright and Anderson. I think they are future studs too.

Ian Anderson - The Braves have handled Anderson very carefully, and it looks to have paid off. Anderson reached a new high in innings pitched with 119.1 and was a nighmare for batters as he struck out 142. His 1.14 WHIP and 2.49 ERA across 2 levels and you can see why the Braves reportedly struck down 3 deals this trade deadline that involved Ian Anderson.

That is a quote from the Talking Chop article on the Braves' MILB player of the year awards. Has anyone else heard of these 3 Anderson trades before now? I don't think I have.

Don't recall seeing anything concrete discussed anywhere, but would imagine he was one of the players Tampa was asking for in an Archer deal.

Given the fact there's likely going to be some big-time shuffling of arms on the big club and at the upper levels this winter, I'd guess Anderson is pretty close to untouchable unless he's the sticking point in a potential Realmuto trade or some other MAJOR deal - just have to think that Gohara, Fried, Allard, Wilson, Weigel, Wentz, and Muller are all likely to be dealt long before they trade Anderson.

Wood and Peraza have combined for 5.1 fWAR this year. HO is probably in jail somewhere

People should focus more on what we gave up in that trade. Wood and Peraza was a hell of a price even for an established major league middle of the order bat.

Dodgers have taken a pretty commanding lead in the NL West after sweeping the Rockies. They are at 93% to win the division. So it's looking like Braves and Dodgers in the NLDS

I’m afraid we are going to need the Rockies to help us out with Phillies. Hope the Rockies can get a winning streak going next week.

Facing the most talented team (record notwithstanding) during their hottest stretch. Peak Barves Luck.
