sounds like the Commissioner and owners want to keep the long playoff format and that's just gross.

I actually enjoy most of the rule changes this season, but playing 162 games and then letting half the league make the playoffs is crazy. Particularly with short series for everyone in the first round.

The only way expanded playoffs make sense is if you give division champs a bye in the first round. Let the various wild card teams duke it out in a short series (I'd include at least one double header). This makes winning your division much more important as you get to skip a round, rest your team for a few days, and set up your pitching staff.

Not exactly struggling with an .835 OPS. BABIP is showing some pretty bad luck brining his average down.
 
I hate the idea of these expanded playoffs next year. If the are going to expand the playoffs there needs to be much more of an advantage. Division winners need a bye or something...

Imagine the dodgers winning 100 plus games and going against some 500 team or worse. Let's call them them the Mets. Then Dodgers could go out quickly b/c of DeGrom and Syndeagaard? It's horrible.
We've already seen it kill the trade deadline.

If they are going to be horrible. I'd go all in.

Take the 162 back to 150. Let the Division winners have a bye(s). Let the others play some short series bull**** for the right to play the division winner. You can sell that play in tourney with the winner winning the Wildcard. Use the extra 12 games to do this tourney.

Add two expansion teams, go to eight divisions of four and only have division winners in the playoffs. Cut to 150 regular season games and have all playoff series be best-of-seven.

3 division winners, 2 WC's, then best of 5 in 1st round, and best of 7 in the WS/CS. Playing 162 games then having to play a 3 game series is so unfair and stupid.

Agree
Reds may play dodgers or us. They sucked all year. Going against Bauer and staff in a 3 game series I’d not reward for kicking as all year

I think the play-in game between the wild card winners borders on the ridiculous. I was fine with one wild card team.

One thing that gets ignored is that in the current and previous division set-ups, the winner of a division may have a worse record than a team in another division that doesn't qualify for the playoffs, even with the addition of the wild card.
