Braves legend Del Crandall died yesterday at 91.

Another Braves' great from my youth. His injury in 1961 opened the door for Joe Torre, but he leapfrogged Torre in 1962 after he recovered. Torre, of course, became the regular allowing the Braves to trade Crandell to the Giants in a megadeal that brought Felipe Alou to the Braves.

Didn't think this deserved its own thread but was interesting nonetheless. Won't post the article (it's on The Athletic) but I found this tidbit interesting. Apparently Doug Fearing left the Dodgers R&D group a few years ago and founded Zelus Analytics in Austin, TX which provides a limited (capped) number of MLB, soccer, NBA, etc. teams complex analytics (including cutting-edge spatio-temporal analysis and modeling) on a cost sharing model.

Seems like each division has only one team that has subscribed to Zelus' services. Per "multiple exec" sources, the Braves are the team in the NL East.

Not surprising with AA's ties to the Dodgers.

I like the Roark signing! Low risk and could be a stabilizing guy as a long man in the pen or a spot like start if needed

Seems like they are holding the spot to call up Martin. He was expected to rejoin the team early this week.

Would assume Martin comes back soon, Greene replaces Webb whenever he's deemed ready, and Newk replaces Biddle.

Doesn't give you a 5-man bench, but that's far better than 3!!!
