Around The Majors 2019

Saw an old tweet from Passan that said Albies was included for Quintana in a trade package, man that would have been horrible. I'm scared what Coppy would have done if he didnt get caught with the international fraud.

If rosenthal tweeted it, I’d believe it. Otherwise, the trade didn’t happen.

Well yeah. Hart and coppy didnt think much of albies.

I heard that from a few sources back then, so it wasn't just Passan. I cannot recall the other but it was mentioned on MLB Network by someone.

So Coppy gave away Simmons for a reliever and tried to sell low on Albies. That is scary.

Kid asked me question- pres of BB opps is in charge of GM, Scouting, Logistics, everything - so buck stops with him.
So is Boston effectively cleaning house top to bottom?

Well, I think Simmons was more on Hart than Coppy, but who knows. Either way, it was the most bone headed move of the rebuild.

Dombrowski will have some suitors

Looking at where Boston is, i dont know. They have some bad contracts, farm is weak, Mookie isnt signed to a long-term deal yet and is rumored to be on the block this winter. They do have unlimited funds but you still need to develop from within.

I've always felt Dombrowski was a tad overrated even though it's difficult to argue with the success he's had. He was a darling when he was working with the Expos in the 1980s and the sheen has yet to wear off. He can clearly "load up" a team for a short run, like he did with the Marlins and he had sustained success in Detroit.

I don't know what to make of this decision from the Red Sox' angle. I've always thought that the Red Sox and their fans are the most deluded set of groups on the sports planet and unless there is something going on behind the scenes, this doesn't appear to make a ton of sense.
