Around The Majors 2019

Brewers signed Gio for $2M plus $2M in potential incentives.

The terms of the incentives are fairly remarkable: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/04/brewers-to-sign-gio-gonzalez.html

The incentives package reflects changes in modern pitching usage. It’s a points-based system, as Jon Heyman of MLB Network first tweeted. Gonzalez can earn two points every time he makes an appearance of three or more innings and one point for all other appearances. He’ll receive $333,333 upon accumulating his 25th, 30th, 35th, and 40th points and then $333,334 with his 45th and 50th

the LH RP the phillies got in the carlos santana deal, james pazos, has been designated by them. was terrible in AAA this year after a solid season in the MLB last year. i thought he would be decent for them this season.

Pens aren't performing all over baseball right now. It isn't just us.

The Braves BP is currently walking 6.07 per 9, and their walk rate would be a MLB record.

No other BP is even very close to 6, and only the Cubs and Twins are over 5.

As far as free passes go, no other BP is within shouting distance of the Braves. They really are that bad, and it needs to be addressed sooner rather than later, even if part of the solution is to move some of the non-elite SP prospects into the BP.

From MLBTR:

Over 14 2/3 innings between Spring Training and the start of the Triple-A season, the southpaw has managed just six strikeouts against 11 walks.

Sign him up.

Phillies up 4-0, top 8th. If they can win, .5 game back, tied in L column.

Hitting .333/.450/.587 on a non-crazy .333 babip. His wOBA isn’t out-performing xwOBA by a huge amount either.
