Around The Majors 2019

Because of the quirky schedule, win or lose today, we'll have a larger games lead than games remaining, and still won't have clinched. The Nats have had 2-3 games in hand all the way down the stretch, and will continue to well into next week.

Today is the eight-year anniversary of Chipper losing a ball in the lights followed by Kimbrel serving up a walk-off 2-run home run to Omar Infante in Miami. That was the game, IMO, that wrecked the 2011 season. Atlanta finished 2-7 that year counting that game.

Ugh... that whole month was brutal, but particularly the last week. The worse thing is that it happened at all, because I am nervous until we clinch now! A lead is safe until the one time it isn't.

I'm usually pretty nervous but this is just over.

Nats would have to run the table, and we'd have to do the opposite of that, just about unlikely as ever. It's over, just a matter of when not if at this point.

Yuge series in Chicago this weekend, 4 game set Cubs and Cards in Wrigley. I'm hoping for a 3-way tie for the division if it can happen. Or even a 3-way WC tie and some crazy WC games.

Brewers are in this thing too, after today they have 3 at home vs Pit and finish with 6 on the road vs the Rockies and Reds. Manageable schedule. Cubs have 7 with Stl, and 3 on the road vs the Pirates, Cards have 7 vs Chicago, and 3 on the road vs DBacks. It's gonna be a fun finish unless Cards win 3 of 4 this weekend or all 4.

Wren fired in Boston, they have some interesting pieces if they sell this winter.

Curious who everyone would rather face in the playoffs in the NLDS, if it came down to Cardinals or Cubs. Personally, I'd rather face the Cardinals. I just feel like the Cubs have higher upside which could shine in a playoff situation.

Probably the Cubs, but the Cards SP's are all RHP and our best lineup is vs those. Not so much vs LHP which the Cubs have with Lester, Quintana and Hamels.

The Cards also have a very very good pen, and alot of our scoring is late in games.

End of last year wasn't good either.

Yea but it sounds like he sat around after not signing instead of being ready too. I expect he'll bounce back but not be as dominate as he use to be going forward. Which isn't surprising with age and decline in velocity.
