Yep I was wrong as well on CK - really wanted us to sign him. Yet more proof that AA is smarter than us forum-goers

AA said there was a point where he thought they had a shot at both DK and Kimbrel so there was interest. The cost and years was the deciding factor. Tampa Bay also wanted him and offered about the same as the Cubs but he picked Chicago.

He certainly had access to information that we didn’t. Had we all known Kimbrel wasn’t in anything resembling game shape I don’t think any of is would have wanted him even for just this season.

We know that AA wanted to sign Kimbrel and said repeatedly he was close to getting both he and Keuchel. He just wasn't willing to go the extra year Chicago went. So it's not like he had this foresight not to sign him, he was just sticking true to keeping years as low as possible while keeping high AAV. Half luck I suppose.

Supposedly he only offered 1 year to both DK/CK.

Nats just lost, if Brewers win, they'll be tied at the top. Brewers won the season series 4-2, so there is that.

Nats are up 1 in the L column but Brewers have the much easier schedule. Nats play 5 at home vs Philly and end the year vs Cleveland. Brewers play Reds and Rockies on the road, easier schedule on paper but on the road.

A shame the cubs **** the bed but I expect the Brewers to host the WC game now

I think it's now 70/30 that Davey is going to get canned unless they beat the Dodgers in the LDS. If they choke that 5-6 game lead they had as the #1 WC and go to Milwaukee and lose he's going to get fired.

Why is it a shame that the Cubs sh*t the bed?

Probably felt the Cubs had a better chance of beating the Nats and possibly Dodgers had Kimbrel not been awful.

Milwaukee might have home game and win, but they aren't gonna touch the Dodgers. Washington is playing pretty bad ball also.

Just call me Mr. Schadenfreude. Cubs have just become a bloated big budget team and I am giddy about them having problems. Whatever romance their World Championship had has totally evaporated.
