Around the Majors - 2022 Version

So sick of the unwritten rules. 9-2 game in the 6th inning and someone is scolded by the other team for bunting? I'd maaaaaybe get it it if it was the 9th inning.

But this is the MLB. The number of times in a season that a team scores 7 runs in a 3 inning stretch is likely far too many to just assume you need to stop trying because your team is up 7 runs. Just pathetic and always bothers me. The team losing can scratch and claw and not give up. But the team winning has to basically give the other team an advantage by not allowing itself to try as hard? Much less as Kapler rightly noted, in a 3-game series where making the other team work their pen is strategic and can pay dividends? Always amazes me.

Honestly, players usually have bonus clauses in their contracts that are numbers based. So that being said, I am for running up the score. Like when Strange-Gordon pitched the other night for the gNats, I didn't mind Albies and Ozuna trying to crank one. If you are going to lob pitches up there at 50 mph not taking it seriously, I will tee off

No, he doesn’t.

I just hate the way this is being framed. Like the Dodgers rescued Freeman because the Braves didn’t appreciate him enough.

Is that a national narrative? Doesn't really matter. From a baseball perspective the Braves are better off with Olson going forward than Freeman imo.

I think we are going to regret not having Lango more than folks realize right now.

A's are starting Christian bethancourt at 1b today. He's hitting .500 with an ops of 1.500 for the season

Seems more like blogger drivel or supposed MLB insiders trying to get the pot stirred. JMO

Hey I’m rooting for the kid but you do realize he’s had all of 2 ABs this season, right? He went 1 for 2 with a double (hence the 1.500 OPS). Maybe let’s let him get 100-200 ABs before we start citing stats

Didn't realize he only had 2 AB. I more amazed that he's starting at 1b for one of the smarter organizations. Just thought it was interesting...

I'm not at all unhappy with Matt Olson trade, but I'll admit I do miss Freddie. That clip posted above tears me a bit. I want nothing but the best for him, yet I hate the Dodgers, yet I wish he was still a Brave.

I’m with you Mossy. I know the Olson deal is better for us. I really do understand that. But given what Acuna said about Freddie kicking his punk ass into shape... that’s the kind of thing I think we need more of, and the work ethic and love for the game that Freddie always displayed .... he will always be one of my favorite Braves- and that Dodger Blue on him makes me sick to my stomach .

I for one think it’ll be nice when the remainder of the roster can actually enjoy themselves a little bit at work, without the school-marm smacking their wrists with his ruler.

You’ve got to be kidding me. Freeman was never my favorite player when he was here, and there were moments that irked me with him. But, none of the teams he was on had a problem having fun.
