Around the Majors - 2022 Version

If the Braves don't gain at least two games playing the Rockies while the Mets play the Dodgers, that will likely be a wrap on the East. There won't be a more favorable setup the rest of the way unless we're still within three or less at the end of the month/start of October and sweep them in that three-game home series.

Agreed.
If we aren’t only 1 or 2 back after this next series it’s time to consider phantom IL trips for our arms and to set up for the wild card.
The Gonsilin IL for the Dodgers got me thinking they learned a thing or two from us last year and are just doing that to rest him for the playoffs.
I mean what are they really playing for right now since they have the number 1 seed all but clinched?

Agreed. You have to have a mindset that anything less than a 5-1 homestand is a failure based on the Mets’ September schedule. Unfortunately, Atlanta will see Sandy over the weekend.

Yeah, not ideal, but if the Mets can knock him around, we should be capable of putting up some sort of fight. Hopefully Morton goes 6/7 shutout innings. I agree, 5-1 at minimum.

If the Mets underachieve and just go 18-15 the rest of the way, the Braves have to go 22-11 to win the division or 21-12 with a sweep of the Mets in that last series against them.

Wondering what's going to happen with the Braves upcoming roster logjam. The roster expands by 2 spots in a couple of days (1 pitcher and 1 hitter). But Arcia is almost ready and so is O'Day. And then Albies is about to start rehab, and we may eventually need a spot for Soroka too, since he can only rehab 30 days. Then there is Ian Anderson also down in AAA. Now Jesse Chavez is available again too. Tough decisions

I don’t think they learned anything from us. The difference is that they are not in a pennant race this year and can afford to rest starters.

I imagine there's going to be a lot of shuffling. Adrianza may be on thin ice. Curious to see what happens if Grissom stops hitting. He's been slumping a bit.
