Around the Majors - 2022 Version

Disengagements are further described as 'pick-offs' or 'step-offs' which have their own definition.

If a bug gets into the eye of the pticher then there is no intent to 'check' the runner. I think they would let that pass. Just my opinion.

So it is subjective. Great

I don't think there is much opinion in that unless of course they fake something to the eye and then try to pick off the runner.

Players will use every loophole available to help their team win. Players will start deeking pitchers into thinking they are taking off before they even come set. Anything to get the pitcher off the game. Pitchers will counter with step offs to clean their cleats or wipe the sweat. This rule gives way too much power to the runner and is as bad as the runner on second disaster we see in extras. We will point to this era of baseball as the beginning of the end to a great game

Wrong. Tehteh has assured us it will be good, even if he can’t exactly explain why with sound logic. He’s never wrong, so his word is good enough for me.

But once they go to clean their eye but really throw to a base that counts as a disengagement so it eliminates much of this chicanery.

Awww - Big bad Enscheff was embarrassingly wrong and is now resorting to quoting others to try and save face.

Learn how to read big guy.

You only have to step off to make the runner go back then you clean your forehead and reengage. Not really the point. Just saying players will exploit rules and this will be no different. It won’t be fun once guys figure out how to manipulate the rule and make stealing bases a 95%success rate.

It is a stupid rule no matter how you spin it. And it will most likely be modified within a few years

Not to mention the pitch clock will make timing the jump easier

They tested in the minors, but I feel like the minors aren't win at all costs enough to try to exploit loopholes in the throw over/pitch clock. We'll see.

I tweeted this earlier but I think it's true:

It's insane how incredibly good the #Dodgers are - like, they're phenomenal. But I'm not sure anyone is that scared of them. They clearly aren't anyone's first choice to play against in the playoffs, but the confidence in other fanbases is at an all-time high this season.

The Padres who are 2nd behind the Dodgers would be 4th in our division. Don’t get me wrong the Dodgers have a good team but they’ve had nobody to push them in the division all year. I think we match up against them better than anybody.

They arent unbeatable but they're 98-44 with a X/WL of 103-39, with a RD of +318. Thats umm pretty ****ing good. Can the Braves beat them in a playoff series if healthy? Sure, will it be easy, absolutely not.

What's kind of striking about the Dodgers is that they're otherworldly dominant and a lot has gone wrong for them. Normally when you're having this kind of season it's because just about everything works out for you -- your great players play like superstars, your good players play like great players, a bunch of guys have fluky career seasons, etc. That's basically the only way you win 110 games.

And instead the Dodgers are dealing with Cody Bellinger playing like a replacement-level talent, Max Muncy hitting .199 (and needing a hot streak to get to that point), Walker Buehler getting hurt, Craig Kimbrel infuriating everyone every time he's asked to save a game, multiple other injuries to the pitching staff, etc. A lot of things have broken against them and they're still ridiculous.

Having a division with 2 really disappointing teams and 2 more bad ones helps

Judge will be 31 when next season starts and he’s turned down 7/213.5 from the Yankees. At 31 what type of deal is realistic?

I think Yankees are in the ballpark on years, money wise he's gonna be wanting 300+ mil. Maybe like 8-320?

His contract gonna be tough, because i dont think he'll age well at all past 34-35, and you probably gotta commit to hit age 36 to 39-40 age seasons. I guess if you get a WS outta it, it's worth it.

Yeah he’s not gonna age well at his size imo. That contract is gonna look rough on the back 3 years
