Around the Majors - 2022 Version

He averages 4-5 wins per year. So 6-8 wins remaining on his service time. So roughly 50 -60 million in value less his arb numbers next year.

The Angels would be smart to trade him truthfully.

?

He was at 8.1 last year with hitting and pitching combined. He's at 4.7 right now which is an over 8 pace. I think he's going to valued as an 8 win guy in any trade talks. I do think the Angels would be smart to trade him.

I'd think real hard about Conforto as a Braves person.

Obviously you want to know more information about his health and we don't know what it will cost.

I assume he's looking for a 1 year deal to show he's healthy and good. Hit the market.

I would think he'd love the chance to help compete against the Mets and play in the playoffs.

If he'd sign one of those 1 million plus incentives deals, then I'd sign him sight unseen and see if he's a weapon down the stretch.

It’ll be curious to see what AA does but he has a ton of options. We can stand pat on offense or go get Benintendi and a bullpen arm. I don’t think a starter is needed but Yates seems to be on a good path right now. Ozzie coming back and possibly Soroka.

If conforto is healthy he’s the easy solution for a team with no prospects to trade and a lot of money to spend.

I still think one of the RHH 2B/OF options is the best fit though. Harris is probably going to need a platoon partner for the playoff push.

If you add conforto, duvall could be that platoon guy with Harris, right?

Alternate day appearances starting tomorrow probably means he could conceivably be activated within two weeks. If he gets Monday and Tuesday off and then goes again Wednesday and Friday they may only need to see him go on back-to-back days once (which could come the following Tuesday and Wednesday).

I’m not familiar enough with conforto’s splits to say for sure, but he may be an everyday guy.

Harris has been pretty bad vs LHP. He shouldn’t be permanently turned into a platoon guy this early in his career, but for the playoff push they should not allow him to take PAs without the platoon advantage.

ASSUMING several things...
1.) Conforto is going to be healthy enough to contribute and they aren't outbid for him.
2.) Yates is going to be healthy enough to be a significant contributor down the stretch.
3.) Alex doesn't go out to chase another SP.

Merrifield is probably the perfect fit. He's not the perfect platoon-mate for Harris (who isn't likely going to be in a strict platoon anyway), but he and Duvall can fake it well-enough in CF to get by as long as you have strong defenders on the corners (Acuna and Conforto/Duvall). He's not left-handed, but would still be an upgrade over Arcia/Cano until Ozzie gets back - and would still be able to contribute, particularly as a defensive replacement/pinch-runner in the postseason.

I do think Alex can probably splurge financially to make a big play for Conforto if they're happy with the medicals, but am less convinced they'll chase Merrifield or Benintendi. They no longer have Waters to use as part of the package for one/either of them, and I feel like Grissom is "untouchable" at this point. Given the struggles of every SP in Gwinnett not named Muller, he's not going anywhere either in case they want someone to come up and make a handful of starts during the second half to rest the guys currently in the rotation. That probably means the play would be to go get Conforto, keep your fingers crossed on Yates, have Duvall make a few starts in CF against the toughest lefties, and struggle through with Arcia/Cano until Ozzie's back IMO.

I still don't think Conforto will even be a realistic option. Coming off of injury and not even having had a spring training. He'd really need to be healthy within the next few weeks to make a significant impact in September

Yeeesh. If Yates is back to form teams just won’t score runs against us in the playoffs.

It’s all going according to plan.

Looks like we're going Morton-Wright-Anderson out of the ASB. No Fried to give him a little more rest i'd assume.

Freeman with another monster game.

Those expecting him to fall off a cliff in 3 years I think will be 'disappointed'.
