Article breaking down Wren's tenure

Rick Ankiel was ****ing horrible! Yeah, he hit a home run in the post season. blah. He was still horrible.

Gave up Tim Collins who is still pitching well in the playoff bound KC pen, Gregor Blanco who is playing 144 games a year for the playoff bound giants in a position of incredible need and would have prevented the BJ disaster had he been given the job and not traded, and Jesse Chavez who is currently in the playoff bound Oakland pen. Yes, Farnsworth was included in the deal coming to Atl too, but **** that. This was a terrible trade. How different would things look today with a cheap yet servicable Blanco in center and Collins in the bullpen. Rick Ankiel who had three hits in his entire Atlanta was a good trade...LOL!

Yeah, I don't see how this one goes in the "good" column.

I think the Ankiel trade was a bad one, but I'm not going to bemoan the loss of Collins, Blanco, and Chavez too heavily. Collins has pretty much had one decent season. Blanco didn't make the big club at another stop that needed a CF (Washington) before hitting San Francisco where he's had a renaissance (but wouldn't be in CF if Pagan weren't injured). Chavez almost pitched himself out of baseball and his success in Oakland came completely out of the blue.

In retrospect, the Yunel Escobar trade was also a bad one if you consider this trade a bad one, because we got nothing, in effect, for Collins, Pastornicky hasn't developed, and Alex Gonzalez was a miserable stop-gap at SS.
