Expects Yuge Games
Julian P. Assange, 47, the founder of WikiLeaks, was arrested today in the United Kingdom pursuant to the U.S./UK Extradition Treaty, in connection with a federal charge of conspiracy to commit computer intrusion for agreeing to break a password to a classified U.S. government computer.

According to court documents unsealed today, the charge relates to Assange’s alleged role in one of the largest compromises of classified information in the history of the United States.

The indictment alleges that in March 2010, Assange engaged in a conspiracy with Chelsea Manning, a former intelligence analyst in the U.S. Army, to assist Manning in cracking a password stored on U.S. Department of Defense computers connected to the Secret Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNet), a U.S. government network used for classified documents and communications.

Manning, who had access to the computers in connection with her duties as an intelligence analyst, was using the computers to download classified records to transmit to WikiLeaks. Cracking the password would have allowed Manning to log on to the computers under a username that did not belong to her. Such a deceptive measure would have made it more difficult for investigators to determine the source of the illegal disclosures.

Absolutely disgraceful. I predict he beats the charges but he gonna do the time anyways. Most likely he spends years in prison during the trials. I say trials because I expect a hung jury and several retrials.

Guess his optimal usefulness to the Russians is over. Also guess the long standing conspiracy theory that the US Government killed Assange is bunk as well. I don't think he'll be extradited anyway.

"The hand of 'democracy' is strangling freedom," Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

"We will do everything we can to get the prosecutors to reopen the Swedish investigation so that Assange can be extradited to Sweden and be prosecuted for rape," his accuser's lawyer Elisabeth Massi Fritz.

"I am in shock. How could you Equador (sic)? (Because he exposed you). How could you UK?"--former "Baywatch" actress Pamela Anderson

I hope he spends the rest of his life in isolation in a federal SuperMax He’s a disgrace and an enemy of this country.

I like his search for the truth per se

he was a stooge though and didn't search for the actual full truth imo

the charges are uncomfortable imo and what they say for journalists

and i think he is a piece of **** btw

but i don't agree that giving information to the people makes you an enemy of the people

my favorite is trump saying 2 years ago all the time how much he loved wikileaks etc and now says he's never really heard of it and what not

the charge was crafted to address activities that legitimate journalistic enterprises should steer clear of--giving sources tips on hacking an account

A man linked to Wikileaks cofounder Julian Assange has been arrested in Ecuador for "investigative purposes", the country's interior minister has said.

"A person close to Wikileaks, who has been residing in Ecuador, was arrested this afternoon when he was preparing to travel to Japan," Maria Romo tweeted late on Thursday.

The man who was arrested has reportedly lived in Ecuador for several years and has frequented the country's London embassy where Assange had been staying, Romo told CNN's Spanish language service.

An unnamed Ecuadorian official told the Associated Press that a man named Ola Bini, a Swedish software developer living in Ecuador's capital, Quito, was arrested as authorities attempt to dismantle a blackmail ring that in recent days had threatened to retaliate against Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno.

Is it typical American arrogance to assume Assange lost his protection in Equador's Embassy because of pressure from Washington? He seems to have wore out his welcome and bit the hand that was feeding him.
