I posted this in game thread yesterday, but apparently it did not reach the right person. The home button (vBulletin) at top opens a new tab instead of just returning you home. The page forward tab on right also opens a new tab. This is making the site just awful. Please fix

ETA... I’m using mobile view
 
On desktop when I click "The 2018 Chronicles: Return of the Moylan" at the top it is now opening a new page. Also on mobile in the game threads when I click on the next page number of a thread it is doing the same.

The bolded part is the culprit. Setting the target to "_blank" opens a new tab. Simply remove it.

If you're serious I'm serious about letting you fix it.

Can you also remove the external link to the bitmining malware. I found the source just dknt have time to remove it.

In a plot twist, Metaphysicists account looks to have been compromised.

His account according to the logs deleted both bitmining threads. That's what happens in Thailand I suppose.

Metaphysicists account has been compromised.

According to the logs I've narrowed down when his account added the bitmining stuff in January and altered the code for the new windows a few days ago.
 
No wonder—in general, throughout history, metaphysicists always produce compromised accounts.

Identifying the basic HTML code that opens up a new page isn't the same as figuring out which vBulletin template it was inserted into. The template is what is now inserting it into every page/post.

I think it's best if I'm not involved with the admin of this board in any way. Last thing we need is another reason for folks around here to bitch and moan about me.

I'm not sure what you mean about bitmining threads, but if you can provide more details I can take a look at it from my end. Obviously, all I can see is the HTML generated by the server, so it will be up to you to fix the server, but I can point you in the right direction.

I haven't fiddled with the site code in years.

But it's clear here when Metas account was compromised.
I sent him a message on Facebook. Changed his login stuff. Now just to undo the damage. Without me having to do a clean reinstall.

Umm, it is trivial to find the template if you know what HTML is being produced.

If you can't, then you aren't a web designer. There are vBulletin support sites out there, but the official site requires subscriber log in credentials.
