Banuelos DFA'd, Kubitza Claimed

I hate it for Man-Ban, he is very talented when healthy. But staying healthy has been a real issue and it may be his career is going to be over due to this.

I figured Manny would be gone soon. Good move. I don't know what to think of Kubitza anymore. Nobody wants the guy

Kubitza strikes out way too much for his power. I said it years ago, his K rate being 25+ means he'll K 30+ in the majors. There's 2 virtual universal truths when you analyze minor league stats in "mature" prospects (aka not 20 year olds in AA) it's that when they hit the majors, their BB rate drops and their K rate rises, as well as their poewr remains about the same.

So honeslty, I don't like this move. ManBan had upside, Kubitza is a bench player if he's lucky. Typically 3B who can't hit amount to nothing.

Which is why one has to be really careful when looking at "plate discipline" numbers in the minor leagues.

Kubitza is an good guy to stash on the "second bench" in AAA. Not really good enough for a major league bench. But he can provide an option at the corner infield and outfield spots if guys get hurt. He has an option left after this year. We do have some choices to make with regard to the 40-man roster this off-season. Will be interesting to see if he kept there.

It is important to look at, but adjust. And again, it depends on the age and level. I have faith that Ozzie Albies as a 19 year old in AAA has the potential to improve his patience as that part of his game is developing but a 24 year old in AA is typically not improving.

Sounds a lot like Terdo. How's he doing by the way???

(Sorry - just had to.)
