Bautista released

good to see that AA is willing to cut his losses in a timely manner when an experiment does not work out...it was worth a shot as long as we were clear-eyed about the chances of success

So is this to give Camargo his shot now or does AA have a trade coming up shortly? That play to end game last night by Camargo may have sealed Bautista's fate

The Braves have released Jose Bautista. Anthopoulos says Camargo will be the everyday third baseman.

Per Bowman.

thethe happy.

Me happy too

I'm happy too, it was worth a shot, but Camargo starting and Flaherty as UTIL guy is good and a bat off the bench is best of the squad.

Happy my SS is back too, missed Dansbae.

Wouldn't have minded him as the right handed power bat off the bench, but this was clearly the right move.

Now don’t trip over a chalk line lol.

So this is the next step. If Camargo does well great. If not, AA considers calling up Riley if he is doing well. If Camargo can’t hold down the position and Riley isn’t setting the world on fire....AA considers a short term acquisition like Moose.

In saying that...I think Camargo will do just fine and keep the position for the rest of the year. Either way...we get to see what he is...which is the smart thing to do.

Interesting to hear AA discuss Camargo's batted ball data and saying their analysis shows that he has a good chance to handle the job. The times they are a changin.

It's been clear to me that Camargo has shown at least with the bat he can handle everyday duties. The glove at third playing is without question.

I get why he tried it but AA made his first mistake of his tenure by signing Bautista and not letting Camargo play.

Is this the FO saying Camargo is a utility guy at best, southcack?

Brandon Drury has been pushed out of the 3B job with the Yanks due to his migraines and the emergence of Andujar. I'm certainly not advocating Drury be aggressively pursued or suggesting he'd be an upgrade over Camargo, but he has played around the diamond during his time in the big leagues and I wonder if he could somehow be a fit for us. Price might be too high given where he's at contract/control-wise.

I'm fine with Camargo getting a full shot. Tapate50 and I have been on him since his debut and it's time to see what we have got in him.

I thought the Bautista move was foolish from the get-go. That said, he did hit a big dinger against the Cubs last week.

K on both plate experiences with the bases loaded and the pitcher threw a fastball (91 and 93 straight as an arrow) down the middle raises eyebrows.

The funny thing about the Albies vs Swanson argument is you can argue that Camargo is trumping both if you go by his tough luck with looking at advanced stats (although I've wondered, since Albies has beaten expected stats for over 100 games now, if you can also throw him in with Inciarte....just in a different way as a guy that is just going to beat them, even if it's just by a few points).

It Camargo relinquishes 3B it will not be on the account of his glove...that’s for sure...Dude just has to consistently hit...
