Best 1,2 in baseball?

Kershaw/Greinke easily.

After that, you can go a number of different ways.

I'd have 2-5 in no order as.

Waino/Wacha.

Lee/Hamels.

Scherzer/Verlander (assuming he has a strong 2nd half)

King/Iwakauma.

It tickles me that Strasburg looks to remain just a solid pitcher and not the God the media made him out to be. Also tickles me that Harper can't figure out how to stay healthy or find consistency.

Wildly amusing, isn't it? He's a nice pitcher, but all he does is throw a few mph harder. Nothing exceptional, particularly mentally. Prone to dumb pitches.

You still can. Although it wouldn't be a strong argument. I have a feeling by the end of the year they will be in the running as a top duo in the league. Obviously not exceeding what the Dodgers have, but they could be in the discussion.

Wouldn't it be Teheran/Minor ?

I think Wood has a much higher ceiling than Minor. Minor is a good pitcher. I expect Wood will be better though. May be too much to ask of Alex since he's so young and gets jerked around by the Braves on a regular basis. I will go on record and say Julio and Alex will be a top 5 duo by the end of the season.

There is my homerism or TURBOism.

I see him as this generation's Bert Blyleven. Snake-bit or stupid.

Blyleven's relied on his superb curveball more than velocity (although he could air it out), but I watched him a ton when he pitched in Minnesota and he would always find a way have that bad inning that screwed things up. Something like Walk-Scratch Hit-Three-run Bomb. It didn't help that uber-control freak Gene Mauch held the Sword of Damocles over the head of his starting pitchers, but Blyleven seemed to lose his composure so easily. I see some of that in Strasburg.

Interesting comparison.

Strasburg's peripherals look excellent. They indicate that he's pitched better than his bottom line would indicate. Still, I see something lacking in him. Some short outings where he doesn't seem to care to battle through not having his best stuff, some instances where his mentality could be questioned.
