Primaries are pretty much getting the party's vitals before the real thing.
Real thing, registering with state election boards.
I think either party should simply see how the candidate is polling every summer and make the switch last second if not going favorable.
The Dems have always blown up precedent to retain power and they have now carved a new path to DESTROY DEMOCRACY!!!

Don’t get me wrong, the whole process still sucked, but it’s hard to argue this wasn’t the desired outcome for the same Primary voters some of you are pretending to be worried about.
FYI, in this poll on July 3, 48% of Dems still backed Biden as the nominee, compared to 47% who didn't. Are we to believe the Dem sentiment about a Biden re-election had an organic 31 point swing in less than month? Or is it more likely that weakened public support among top Democrats was a bigger factor to public opinion?
Primariess of both parties are non binding.
So sturg suggestion is real.
Biden said he'd refuse nomination. Taken at face value is also a thing.
Yeah **** all those people that voted for the candidate they wanted, amirite? Letting the party choose for them is quite clearly the more democratic option.
Sorta like keeping Trump off the ballot is protecting democracy.

I think the vast majority of voters are pretty tuned out to the daily politics grind and the avalanche of takes saying Joe Biden’s brain is mush impacted sentiment more than what Chuck Schumer has ever said. I think Dem Elites are all basically spineless cowards and the pressure came from public perception and fundraising.
The dem base' opinion is whatever MSM and party leadership tells them it is
A month ago the base felt Biden was sharp and capable. Today they feel he needs to put out to pasture and Commie Kamala is the way forward.
Yes, but that’s not a left/right divide, it’s just how people engage with politics and news. I had several conversations with friends and family in the middle of nowhere Northern Wisconsin telling me how illegal immigration was personally ruining their lives, despite them living somewhere that has essentially zero immigrants of any sort. Authority is a big thing for a lot of people, and many trust that someone that largely agrees with them on issues will tell them the truth.
Are they paying more for housing?

There are a lot of similarities between the Trump base and the left's base, where they simply twist themselves to support what the party commands
But overall, there are tons of ideological diversity among people from the right that I do not see from people on the left. This very board is illustrative - me, thethe, aces, chop, tapate, garmle, etc actually debate multiple issues, disagree often. foreign policy, social entitlements, trade policy, foreign policy, pro life policy and on and on
wheras you, nsacpi, runnin, 57, zito, etc are all in lock step. Trans the kids. Masks work. the border is fine. Trump is an existential threat. Guns are bad. aboriton is good. There's nothing to see on covid, and on and on
