Bill Shanks back at Scout.com

There really wasn't much to it, it was mainly articles on prospects. It was worth having around the trade deadline but very rarely would you get any real scoop, when you did the news broke a few hours later. The talk shows were fun but that was hosted on a free site. Blog talk radio is a website anyone could log into, you didn't need a subscription to listen.

There is no need to ever pay for "scoups" anymore. Everything is on twitter.

This is the place to be for die hard Braves fans, I would never consider going back to that place. Plus, most of the good posters are here. Bill Shanks' actions really turned me off. The guy had such a big ego for someone who was really a nobody. If you didn't agree with his opinion on something, he'd talk down to you. I saw it many times.

I liked Bill honestly. I met him at Turner Field one day and he was really nice to me. His biggest problem was that he couldn't understand that the "phase" of sabermetrics wasn't a phase at all. I'm sure by this time he has expanded his understanding of advanced metrics but he would often criticize without taking the time to understand the relationship the new age metrics had to actual outcomes on the baseball diamond. He does have REAL contacts within the Braves organization and probably learned real quick that the Braves are like most organizations in their desire to use as many stats as possible.

True, but I always trusted Bill that he had access to some of the information that didn't make it into the papers.

One time someone posted who we called up or signed with links and Bill deleted it cause it scooped him. Bill really didn't have any particular special knowledge you couldn't find with searching for the right people. What he did well for a long time was give us access to prospects that others didn't care to give.

Bill isn't too bad really. He's had Frank Wren, various players to include Chipper and Klesko, and coaches on his radio show here in middle GA. I think he's had Bowman on as well.

Told this story before, but Shanks' integrity went down the drain for me when he made a serious beaning injury in the minors "premium" content and tore into me when I questioned that decision openly and tried to post it as legit news. It was twice as bad because I knew the kid and his family. That's just not the kind of thing you try to make money off of -- unless you're BS.

I'm going to try to use Scout's board as a Minor League affiliate. Whenever I feel any of you are not posting up to par, I will demote you and send you down to work on some things like mechanics and technique.

If I get demoted I'm going all Francouer on this place....
