Bill Shanks back at Scout.com

Told this story before, but Shanks' integrity went down the drain for me when he made a serious beaning injury in the minors "premium" content and tore into me when I questioned that decision openly and tried to post it as legit news. It was twice as bad because I knew the kid and his family. That's just not the kind of thing you try to make money off of -- unless you're BS.

Guy's an assclown. Straight up.

I liked Bill honestly. I met him at Turner Field one day and he was really nice to me. His biggest problem was that he couldn't understand that the "phase" of sabermetrics wasn't a phase at all. I'm sure by this time he has expanded his understanding of advanced metrics but he would often criticize without taking the time to understand the relationship the new age metrics had to actual outcomes on the baseball diamond. He does have REAL contacts within the Braves organization and probably learned real quick that the Braves are like most organizations in their desire to use as many stats as possible.

Yea, by all indications everyone who met him came away with a good impression. His problem is his ego behind a computer screen, he's unwilling to concede to anything or accept any other points of view or admit when he's wrong for that matter, and then to cover it up, he ends up attacking the person.

One time someone posted who we called up or signed with links and Bill deleted it cause it scooped him. Bill really didn't have any particular special knowledge you couldn't find with searching for the right people. What he did well for a long time was give us access to prospects that others didn't care to give.

From personal experience, I can honestly disagree with this.
