BJ Upton Almost Traded at Deadline?

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Braves were close to pulling the trigger on a deal that would have sent BJ Upton + SP (Rosenthal speculates Minor or Santana) to an unidentified team, in an effort to "shake up the club."

The deal did not happen because the Braves decided they weren't getting enough in return.

Doubt it. Kinda like when Gammons randomly tweeted we were desperate to trade him, then heard nothing more about it. Just Rosenthal trying to get clicks imo.

I'm thinking Minor was the SP. Trading him would require good talent in return.

What exactly has Minor done this year to command much in return? You can't just go off past performance.

If Wren had a chance to unload that terrible contract and didn't, he's a moron.

He's young, cheap and under control. He hasn't been great this year, but he has pitched very well in the past.

Prior to this year, Minor has been very good for the last couple years.

Obviously he's been crap this year but i wouldnt trade him and BJ for a bag of peanuts.

You can't trade a good young lefty away for nothing, even if you're dumping BJ's salary. That's what dumb franchises do: sell low on a guy like that. He will be fine in time.
