Bowe and Bob Bergdahl

Was in service late 60'-early 70's. No overseas service.

Time will again prove Fox wrong - Drs offices and waiting rooms around the country will still have Fox on constantly.
Quite a business they've created in the past 20 years

As if last week weren't enough, John McCain is now suggesting released Guantanamo detainees were "responsible for 9/11."

He added, "I believe that there are other prisoners, some of whom we have already released, that we could have released." What?

Shakespeare once noted "we are known by the company we keep"
or, it might have been Ben Franklin

The Army lowered the enlistment bar considerably in the wake of manpower needs stemming from Iraq/Afghanistan commitments. More chickens coming home to roost, maybe.

I haven't followed this kerfuffle that closely, but when I read this I was shocked. If the families of the soldiers who may have died in efforts to rescue Bergdahl have a gripe, it should go all the way to the top of the Army and focus on the recruiters who let this nut enlist in the first place. If he was discharged from the Coast Guard for any reason, he shouldn't have been able to enlist period. What were the effin' recruiters thinking? Are they on some type of enlistment contest? Whatever, this is inexcusable.

I agree. This is what reporters should be talking about. How many other nutcases have been given uniforms and automatic weapons? I'm betting a LOT.

you are correct.

They don't have the money or resources to check. THey can only do background checks for criminal behavior. Too many walls to breach for mental evaluations from hospitals and clinics.

lol at the idea the military doesn't have enough money to investigate recruits

Actually a number of reporters were talking about this in the run up to the wars. That would have been the knee jerk reaction of invading Afghanistan and the daddy issued lust for oil profits invasion of Iraq.

See Frank Rich article from yesterday where he in fact names the names of those that went head long crazy. See Katrina vandenHuvel today for those that stood up 2002-03 to our too little too late shock about how our military is /was unprepared for these debacles
