Braves acquire Chris Martin for Allard

Like his control, will like this more if he does indeed have more years of control.

BRef says. So yeah idk.

2019 Contract Status: Signed thru 2019, 2 yrs/$4M (18-19)
Service Time (01/2019): 1.133 • Arb Eligible: 2021 • Free Agent: 2024

If so a 33 year old BP arm with extra control.

He's a rental. Has a contract that specifies free agency after this season.

Very low walk rate this year and last.

Allard is a good get for a rental.

Elaborate. How does someone get a contract that allows for free agency two years before he's entitled? Never heard of that kind of clause before. Not saying it's not the case, but it's something I'm learning about.

FG has him as signed to a $4M deal over 2 years, 1.113 years of service time and a FA in 2020.

Pretty sure that FA date is wrong, but it’s an odd career arc.

I think he went off and pitched abroad. That's why the major league service time is low and the contract allows him to hit free agency before 6 years service time.

He doesnt have much clock time, so i'm not sure about the contract stuff.

Passan said 4 years of control, Ken said he's a rental.

I feel like foreign players get contracts like that to avoid being arb eligible.

Either way, control over a 33 year old BP arm isn’t a huge deal.

I loved Allard coming out of the draft, sad how low his value has fallen.

Seen mixed reports on the control for Martin.

Seems like an overpay to me from aa.

Clear that we had 40 man issues and innings issues in the upper minors. Moving allard helps with both.

If he’s got a ton of control I get it. If he’s a rental I do not.
