He looked terrible the last time I saw him in the Majors. I understand depth but I just rather go with our young guys at this point since we have a comfortable lead.

I thought so too, but as long as he doesn't get a spot over Poveda come Sept. I am fine with it. Nothing wrong with extra depth.

To say we have better options in the minors is subjective. None of them have pitched at the ML level so no matter how well they are doing at AAA or AA it does not guarantee success in the majors. Few starters come up from the minors and have immediate success in the majors.

Towards the end of September when the seeds are set in stone I want Garcia starting over one of our playofff pitchers. This is a smart move.

Of course, when I say we have better options in the minors it is my subjective opinion. There is no guarantee. I'm glad we picked up Garcia. He's been pitching well in AAA after struggling earlier in the year in the majors. It looks like he will be getting one or two minor league starts before September call-ups. I don't rule out the possibility that he could help us out quite a bit. I just think that Hale and Poveda have performed in a way in AAA that suggests they wouldn't embarrass themselves if called upon to pitch in the majors.
