12 at starters puts our rotation above average. We may have 1-2 guys above average so I'm skeptical of that.

OF of 6 is pretty strong unless Inciarte puts up 4-4.5.

Not crazy expectations, but def. at the high end of what would be expected.
 
I just love that people find everything to be negative. You have to give to receive and this was a great deal IMO.

They will probably be able to flip him for the same type of prospects they gave up for him. He isn't some unknown quantify about to break out and become a star. He is more likely to be hurt and post 0 WAR as he is to be great and post 3 WAR.

Pretty close to it, maybe a handful more. Be careful taking the best month and using that as your baseline.

Yeah, maybe a touch optimistic. My numbers are very close to FG on the pitching staff, but some big differences on position players. The biggest one being Inciarte. I have him at 3.5 and FG at 2. I also like SRod more then they do, factor Albies into the depth chart, etc.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, I don't think Jaime Garcia - even circa 2015 - is a difference maker for this team (as currently constructed).

I believe Gant (a Savannah native) has a shot at being a decent swingman/long-reliever or reliable bottom of the rotation option. Ellis and Dykstra were largely inconsequential pieces.

Obviously, I can see the potential positives here too ... but we're talking about a $12MM player who wasn't certain to even crack St. Louis' starting rotation this season and who has never exactly been a world beater either.

Agreed. If I took their exact performance then I would be projecting 90+ wins. But the facts are the facts. The team that finished the year was far superior to the team that played the first 2 months of the season. For that reason I project next year based on the ability of the team that finished the year and don't even consider the one that started it.

I think they'll look for one player that exceeds the ceiling of any of the three that were trading and I'd be happy as **** with that.
 
I wonder if they looked into Gio. Gio is the same money, coming off a bit of a rough year and someone the Nats would probably like to unload in a decent deal. I would venture to guess it would take a bit more, but there is at least a lot of potential upside. Im not suggesting they didn't kick the tires, but I'm just throwing it out as someone we could have obtained if that is what we were looking for.

Maybe it's because Gio has seemed to struggle against the braves when I see him but I'm much happier with Garcia than Gio.

Would've rather seen it spent on a bat or offered as salary relief in a deal for a higher impact contributor.

As for Gant, he could've slotted into the bullpen this season - at the least.
 
If we did get Sale, we could have: Sale, Teheran, Garcia, Colon, Folty.

I doubt we actually do it, but what a good rotation.
 
DOB: #Braves really are still going to consider adding another starter, if they can add a legit frontline ace.

It's important to note that a lot of the "depth" this system is known for has been converted into other very risky assets though. Regardless of how much depth the Braves had, or what the trade value of that depth is/was, it is debatable whether or not a lottery ticket bat and an injury prone SP with 1 year of control was the best use of that value.

Yeah, I'm fine with that. But I like giving up spare parts for riskier but higher upside returns.

So confusing. That means either Teheran or Folty are traded. Before the offseason started those were the two I would have said were 100% on the staff next year.

Or Wisler/Blair. It would make sense now to see a Albies, Folty, Blair/Wisler, Inciarte/Smith trade.

Eh. You could certainly argue 4.5 at 1B and 2 at SS is a little on the low end as well.
