Why would you compare this team to the one that in the aggregate put together last seasons win total?
Because it is what we have plus whatever guys we acquire.

Here's how I get to 80. This factors in some of our above replacement level depth that we'll have in AAA that could mitigate our injury risk a bit. I find the FG projections that show us in the low to mid 70s noticably low on several spots.
SP: 12
RP: 3
C: 1.5
1B: 4.5
2B: 1.5
SS: 2
3B: 1.5
OF: 6
Would you agree that if Garcia pitches to his ability the braves can flip him for a better asset?
So if we played all of last season with the roster we had on septemher 30th we would have had the same win total?
12 at starters puts our rotation above average. We may have 1-2 guys above average so I'm skeptical of that.
OF of 6 is pretty strong unless Inciarte puts up 4-4.5.
Not crazy expectations, but def. at the high end of what would be expected.
What's there not to like? Let's be careful not to overvalue Gant and Ellis. Their back end starters with limited upside. Nice pieces to have but Jaime has a proven track record. He's very good when healthy. Low risk with who we have for a potentially solid mid rotation pitcher. I like it
Pretty close to it, maybe a handful more. Be careful taking the best month and using that as your baseline.
They will probably be able to flip him for the same type of prospects they gave up for him. He isn't some unknown quantify about to break out and become a star. He is more likely to be hurt and post 0 WAR as he is to be great and post 3 WAR.
I wonder if they looked into Gio. Gio is the same money, coming off a bit of a rough year and someone the Nats would probably like to unload in a decent deal. I would venture to guess it would take a bit more, but there is at least a lot of potential upside. Im not suggesting they didn't kick the tires, but I'm just throwing it out as someone we could have obtained if that is what we were looking for.
Why do you care about the 12 million?
When do you think Gant was going to pitch?
If we did get Sale, we could have: Sale, Teheran, Garcia, Colon, Folty.
I doubt we actually do it, but what a good rotation.
Agreed. All guys given up were spare parts.
It's important to note that a lot of the "depth" this system is known for has been converted into other very risky assets though. Regardless of how much depth the Braves had, or what the trade value of that depth is/was, it is debatable whether or not a lottery ticket bat and an injury prone SP with 1 year of control was the best use of that value.
DOB: #Braves really are still going to consider adding another starter, if they can add a legit frontline ace.
Or Wisler/Blair. It would make sense now to see a Albies, Folty, Blair/Wisler, Inciarte/Smith trade. So confusing. That means either Teheran or Folty are traded. Before the offseason started those were the two I would have said were 100% on the staff next year.
