Kinda wonder if bringing Chavez back isn't as much about getting someone else into the pen to pitch those Opener/piggyback games so they can send Strider down to Gwinnett or Mississippi to get stretched out. Even though he's been more than good enough to be that multi-inning RP that has become so much more valuable in today's game, he's the one guy in the system that's close enough to ready that he could potentially become an impact SP by the time Morton rides off into the sunset (assuming that's at the end of this season).
If Wright is for real, you're only worried about the #5 slot in the rotation. If Elder struggles after you send Strider down, you could give Muller a couple of starts to see if his control/command have improved as much as it looks like it has when boxscore scouting. If Muller doesn't cut it at that point you could go to Chavez and his band of merry men (Davidson/Touki/Ynoa) for a couple turns through the rotation. Two more starts from Elder, two from Muller, and two from Chavez and the 7 dwarves would give Strider almost six weeks to get stretched out (and work on his change) to the point that he'd be ready to consistently give you 100 pitches by the All-Star break.
