Braves Acquire Matt Adams From Cardinals

There is no "might" about it.

I'll bump this thread again on August 1. You will be proven wrong, again.

By then you will be ignorantly blabbering about something else...wrong...again.

Adams is the same hitter he was when the Braves acquired him. He has the exact same trade value he had when the Braves acquired him. The Braves should hold onto him as a potent bench bat for next year unless they can package him with other pieces to get a legit 45/50 FV prospect in return.

Daniel Murphy never slugged over .473 until he slugged .595 at age 31 with a new club. He's slugging .572 again this year. I bet the Nat version of you was highly upset regression never happened last season

Wrong. It has been widely chronicled that Murphy made real and measurable changes to increase his production. Google "daniel murphy changes" to educate yourself.

Adams has made no such changes. His increase in production is a factor of fly balls luckily going over the fence for a few weeks.

I know facts are hard to stomach sometimes, but they are facts nonetheless.

Oh, well if he made real and meaningful changes...

I drew a contrast in another thread about the changes we've seen in Adams and Flowers....it is possible to analyze these changes and make an evaluation of what is most likely a lucky streak and what might be sustainable

For whatever it's worth... more fly balls are leaving the park this year than ever before (juiced balls)

If a player hits more fly balls, he'll hit more homers this year.

What is Adams' fly ball tendency? Is he average? Above average?

That's why I can buy his HR rate increasing to ~15%. His nearly 30% rate with the Braves was always an illusion.

Why is everybody else being wrong so much more important than how our team is performing?

It seems it is even more important that being right.

Baseball performance is not linear. It goes up and down for even the best players. Adams is likely not as good as he was a couple of weeks ago. He may be better than he has been this week (or maybe not, he has still been good this week). We don't have to decide that today and argue incessantly about who will be wrong a month from now.

Nobody has claimed he is among the best hitters in baseball. Arguing against that is the proverbial strawman. For a few weeks he was, but... ups and downs will continue to happen. I am glad he has been great, and hope it continues. I plan to watch the games to find out.

Using straw men to prove that he's right is kind of Enscheff's whole thing around here or haven't you noticed.

Apparently he's going to prove me wrong about something in August, though what it is that I am going to be proved wrong about is anyone's guess.

So you don't think Adams has made real improvements since joining the Braves?

He'll let you know haha

It's funny he thinks I'm using Aug 1st as some kind of accurate report date. I just said Aug 1st bc of thewupk's famous "wait till July" kinda like GoT's winter is coming

You guys have invented a new invalid debate technique: the straw man straw man.

A straw man that never existed haha

You know I'm referring to Adams improving in any real way. I couldn't care less if a guy playing 1B lost weight.

He used pilates to lose weight which also help improve core strength. I think losing weight this way could potentially lead to more power
