Braves acquire No. 35 pick in MLB Draft for Drew Waters and more

Bridges was let go in Jan of 2019. Coincidence?

Maybe I’m crazy, but their 2019 picks from high school look like a success to me. Michael Harris in the third round alone makes that seem to be the case. Then Vaughn Grissom in the 11th looks like a pick they nailed. Joey Estes in the 16th round turned into an important piece in trading for Olson.

Obviously Backstrom, Paolini, Morton, Owens and Johnson all seem like pretty clear busts. But that seems like a pretty high hit rate to me, especially when only two of the high schoolers were picked in the top 10 rounds.

Even if you take Harris/Paolini out of it and just look from the 10th round on of that draft, identifying Grissom and Estes are pretty big hits at that point of the draft.

2019 class was actually pretty good overall. Shewmake, Harris make this class a hit overall, with Grissom and Estes having the potential to make this a pretty amazing class. A few other guys are making some noise, though are nothing more than lottery tickets.

2020 class was pretty epic, especially considering the limited data/tape we had on these kids. Every pick looks to be a legit prospect. Sucks we lost Franklin this year, cause he had the potential to be a fast riser.

Grissom is older than Harris…

Folks may want to pump the brakes a bit on the guy.

Harris is extremely young to be in the majors, so that's not necessarily a knock.

Grissom looks like he might be able to play in the majors, not sure anyone sees even a starter just yet.

The MLB draft is a total crapshoot and rarely produces a lot of hits.

It seems like the Braves have helped major league club with recent drafts and that's not bad at all.
