Braves Acquire Tommy Milone

If you're adding guys like this, Opener/piggyback situations come into play - and Snitker isn't going to be allowed to manage the pen when the back of the rotation starts...

Tomlin/Erlin/Milone/Wright/Touki/Wilson/Ynoa go through the order one time and then are taken out - the first time Snitker sends them out to see someone a second time - NO MATTER how much they're "cruising" - he's fired.

The way this should've been handled for at least the last two weeks.

Then you better not say a peep when our bullpen gets their titts lit because of exhaustion.

Another thing to remember - two entire teams will be disappearing from the Braves' system starting next season. There will only be so many places to put players who are YEARS away from making any kind of impact moving forward. There won't be tons of room to hide "projects" away - a lot of kids are going to have to play in indy leagues if they're fringe guys that need a lot of things to go right for them to have a chance to make it in the first place.

Guys like Owens/Estes/Devito/Vines fit that description.

I think you’re severely underrating the potential of that group. The Braves paid very large bonuses to Owens and Estes, in particular, and it likely wasn’t to sell them off after one Rookie League season (much less cut then loose to Indy Ball).

There's a month of regular season left, and Greene leads the pen in IP with 15.1, and the next most "overworked" guys are Melancon and Minter with 10.2 - pretty sure that they can handle it.

They did. Can't hoard prospects forever if you want to keep the best and closest to the majors.

Not underrating them at all - they absolutely could turn out to be useful Pitchers in time. If the organization felt they could turn into that in the next couple of years, they'd have been part of the pool. Players not in the pool aren't "worthless", but they're not important pieces of the organization's near-term plans. Guys that are 3-4 years away can be replaced in next year's draft.

Duvall has a platoon partner, his name is Ender Inciarte. Markakis also has a platoon partner, his name is Travis d’Arnaud at DH with Ozuna faking it in LF. Heck, even running Culberson out in LF vs a LHP might be a decent option. The pieces are there for a solid OF, the Braves just need a manager able to properly use the tools he has.

3b and OF are the only potential positions to upgrade though, but it seems like 3b is way more of a need than OF at this point...and SP is even more of a need than either.

Best scenario when Albies gets back:

vs LHP: Duvall RF, Acuna CF, Riley LF, Camargo 3b.

vs RHP: Ender CF, Acuna RF, Neck LF, Camargo/Riley at 3b (though mostly Camargo unless a 3b is acquired that can hit RHP).

I think we want decent platoon partners. Warm bodies that aren’t fielding, hitting, or base running well is just a poor option.

He’s like the worst hitter in baseball, right?

Anyone who thought Milone was an answer to any question should have a clear idea at this point that he's not. All indications are the two PTBNLs going to Baltimore are fodder, but frankly I'd rather have the fodder than Milone.

I can't agree with this. If the question you're asking is who will be our number 2 starter behind Fried, then Milone isn't the answer. If the question is who will fill out the back half of our injury depleted rotation, Milone is an answer. People tend to forget just how bad back half of the rotation starters are.

or what the Braves have used so far this year....

Milone won't be starting any playoff games

Milone isn’t that bad. He isn’t going to be a world beater, but he will be fine as a fifth starter. He’s better than what he showed. Remember how all the relievers looked horrible for a few weeks after the trade deadline last year.

AA needs a policy of not acquiring guys who are incapable of throwing a 90 mph fastball, unless they are knuckleballers.

Milone just looks like the lefty version of Tomlin.
