Braves Call Up Minter and Wilson

We havent had a minor report in a few days. The Stripers ended their regular season yesterday at 81-63, and play Columbus in the playoffs tomorrow for a 5-game set.

Interestingly, the players' request for more off days hasn't trickled down to the minors. The Stripers played 144 games in 152 days. The Braves have played 139 games in 159 days.

I would like to have faith Minter can turn it around in September, but he was a train wreck his last few outings in Gwinnett after putting up decent numbers for moist of the season. I really think he needs to hit reset this off-season and work on his command. He has great stuff just hasn't been able to locate in the zone.

Minter is a guy that if he could put it back together would be a massive boost for the pen. Giving him some meaningless innings up here serves to see if he can get it back and to save the arms in the pen.

I wouldn't let him see the field in a close game though.

Wilson could be a hugr weapon if used properly. Better version of what Tomlin has been for us this year.

Pache ended the regular season on fire with a better OPS than Waters. I think Pache is going to be special

Tell me what his batting average and lack of power make you think “special?”
Just curious ... and certainly not being negative

Judging from what I've seen in just a few games defensively plus his numbers offensively, he most looked like another Ender to me. Gold Glove CF defense combined with a potentially league average bat. Which is a really valuable, 3-4 win type ballplayer, but not really something I'd call "special."

His power is developing as evidenced by his ISO improving greatly year by year. And he’s a 20 year old in AAA. His ISO has increased from .062 to .146 to .196 the last 3 seasons. Again as a 20 year old who has a 6’ 2” 185 pound frame. His BB rate improves every stop and so does his K rate. He has blazing speed and may be the best defender in the minors. He is certainly special.

Lol... his ceiling is light years beyond Ender. His floor may be Ender but Pache has the frame and the trends as a 20 year old in AAA to have plus power. He’s 6’ 2” 185... Inciarte is completely filled out and 5’ 11” 190... Inciarte’s minor league record couldn’t even touch Pache’s. What he’s doing as a 20 year old in AAA is not as ho hum as you’re making out.

so are you guys talking about a legit leadoff guy who hits .300 steals tons of bases, and hits 25 dingers a year?

This season Pache had a slash line of .278/.340/.474 in AA.

With normal progression I would expect something similar in AAA next year at age 21 and something similar in the majors in 2021 at age 22.

He is likely to improve beyond that until reaching his prime at age 27.

That's "normal" progression. He may exceed or fall short of that. And it doesn't make sense to get too specific about what that might entail in terms of power, stolen bases, etc.

There’s no way to project specific stats like that from a 20 year old in AAA who’s still growing and learning. Most baseball players are still in college at that age. He’s in AAA. The most important thing is that he’s obviously making adjustments every year and improving aspects of his game every year.

Pache has the potential to be a 4+ WAR CF. Whether someone wants to call that special or not is up to them but he should be really valuable to the Braves.
