Braves Call Up Minter and Wilson

I would like to have faith Minter can turn it around in September, but he was a train wreck his last few outings in Gwinnett after putting up decent numbers for moist of the season. I really think he needs to hit reset this off-season and work on his command. He has great stuff just hasn't been able to locate in the zone.

ffs man

His power is developing as evidenced by his ISO improving greatly year by year. And he’s a 20 year old in AAA. His ISO has increased from .062 to .146 to .196 the last 3 seasons. Again as a 20 year old who has a 6’ 2” 185 pound frame. His BB rate improves every stop and so does his K rate. He has blazing speed and may be the best defender in the minors. He is certainly special.

As the guy most pumping the brakes on Pache, I have to agree. The knock on him was lack of power, and all he's done is show improvements there year after year as he's progressed.

The "Pillar floor" comments were crazy a couple years ago, but they are starting to look more and more reasonable now. Describing Pache's most likely outcome as something between Pillar and a RHH Inciarte is probably very accurate. He is improving exactly how you want to see a young guy improve while being challenged against older competition (534 of his 538 PAs have been against older pitchers this year).

He will be a legit option sometime in 2020 at the age of 21. So while he may not be Acuna or Albies special, I would certainly call him a special prospect who should be off the table in any trade talks.

It's early, but 11 HRs in a half season of at bats at AA implies 20+ HR power with the juiced ball.

I was extremely skeptical about that power showing up, but here we are.

Pache ended up putting up 57 XBH in his age 20 season across two levels higher than Ender putting up 25 XBH at A ball. To make it a little wild, that’s more than the 43 that Ender put up in his career year in MLB.

There’s your difference. Ender used to be a good comp for Pache when it looked like he was swinging a twig, but his swing change and putting on good muscle has changed everything around. His case is just different from the Acuna case where Acuna made a swing change because he’s simply not as special with the bat and it’s come along slower for him, but he’s still a special prospect because of the overall package.

That’s not to overrate him. If he comes up next season at any point that isn’t late, he probably puts up something around Victor Robles like rookie numbers (hopefully without as bleh statcast numbers). It hasn’t happened for him as fast as it did with super prospect Acuna and super prospect Albies, and even super prospect Albies had a down sophomore season last year. But the potential is there. It really is.
