Pache ended up putting up 57 XBH in his age 20 season across two levels higher than Ender putting up 25 XBH at A ball. To make it a little wild, that’s more than the 43 that Ender put up in his career year in MLB.
There’s your difference. Ender used to be a good comp for Pache when it looked like he was swinging a twig, but his swing change and putting on good muscle has changed everything around. His case is just different from the Acuna case where Acuna made a swing change because he’s simply not as special with the bat and it’s come along slower for him, but he’s still a special prospect because of the overall package.
That’s not to overrate him. If he comes up next season at any point that isn’t late, he probably puts up something around Victor Robles like rookie numbers (hopefully without as bleh statcast numbers). It hasn’t happened for him as fast as it did with super prospect Acuna and super prospect Albies, and even super prospect Albies had a down sophomore season last year. But the potential is there. It really is.
