Braves Claim Adam Brett Walker, Lose Tuffy Gosewisch

Walker is an OF that doesn't hit a lot but when he does hit the ball goes a long way. 27 HRs in 531 PAs in AAA last year. Only 25. Not a bad depth pickup.
 
Braves claimed OF Adam Brett Walker off waivers from the Orioles.

The former third-round pick of the Twins was designated for assignment by Baltimore last week to clear a roster spot for Mark Trumbo. Walker, 25, batted .243/.305/.479 with 27 home runs and 75 RBI in 132 games last season at the Triple-A level. He should find a path to the majors in Atlanta.
 
Just looked at Walker's numbers for the first time. This guy makes Demeritte look like a contact hitter. Yikes.

Only path he will be finding is the pedestrian bridge that all the other PAYING customers will take.
 
I don't mind having this guy in AAA as depth. I'd always rather have players with some serious flaws so long as they have an exceptional tool to hang their hat on than a guy that doesn't have any huge holes but can't do anything special. However, I'm not crazy about him taking up a 40 man spot that might be better used on someone else.

Losing Tuffy is nothing. After signing Suzuki we didn't have use of another catcher.

You have no idea. He set team records for Chattanooga in both home runs and strikeouts. And I mean ALL-TIME team records.
 
Kiley put a 45 FV grade on him going into 2015. Not surprising to see us roll the dice on him.
