They'll probably option Buchter, which is what they wanted to do in the first place. Beato? No idea what we're getting here; big guy who throws hard.

Yea, Buchter only made the team due to Gearrin's injury. So he is the most likely to be optioned. Gearrin btw was added to the 60-day DL to make room for Beato on the 40-man roster.

I don't think Fredi trusts Buchter due to his wildness. Plus he is really only a lefty specialist anyway and we have Avilan and Thomas to get out lefties. Plus they can get out righties too without walking so many.

I like taking chances on guys that have good stuff but have had control issues in the past. Sometimes it just finally clicks for a guy and he can be lights out. Other times it doesn't click and you quickly move on. Nothing wrong with this move.

I like taking chances on guys that have good stuff but have had control issues in the past. Sometimes it just finally clicks for a guy and he can be lights out. Other times it doesn't click and you quickly move on. Nothing wrong with this move.

Are you talking about Buchter or Beato who we just added? I wasn't saying Beato had a history of control problems. I was talking about Buchter who we just sent down. As far as I know Beato control is okay. Nothing special but okay, IIRC he throws a 92-94 mph fastball and slider combo. But I haven't payed attention to him much outside of his time with the Mets. He did well in AAA last year and pitched a little with Red Sox last year.
