Director of Minor League Reports
Because apparently no one knows of his qualifications but me, here is a future championship manager, Doug Mientkiewicz (pronounced Men KAY vich)
Played at Florida State under Mike Martin, fifth round pick of the Twins, played 12 years for Twins (for whom he won a Gold Glove), Red Sox, Royals, Pirates, Dodgers, Mets, Yankees). One of five people to play for both a World Champion (2004 Red Sox) and win an Olympic Gold Medal (2000).
Became a minor league manager in 2013 for Fort Myers in the FSL and won his first 14 games. Went 45-22 for the first half.
In 2014, won FSL championship with Fort Myers. In 2015, won Southern League championship at Chattanooga after being considered but passed over for the Twins job.
After just missing playoffs in Chattanooga in 2016 (finishing second in both halves), requested to return to his hometown of Fort Myers if he wasn't going to be added to the major league coaching staff. Made the playoffs there again this season and has not had a losing season in his five seasons as a manager.
In 2013 interview, said he felt he was "born to be a manager or a coach."
Still only 43 years old.
