Mentioned on the radio broadcast. Those names I heard include these:

Jason Hursh

Cedric Hunter'

Rio Ruiz

Daniel Castro

Mallex Smith

Chris O'Dowd

Mike Kennelly

Is Smith the biggest surprise?

No surprises.

Smith hasn't played above A ball, so I think it's only sensible to see what he can do at AA. If he hits there, I wouldn't be surprised to see him with the big club at some point in 2015. A lot of that will depend on Melvin, Jr.'s health.

I'm curious to see how Cedric Hunter does in Gwinnett. It appears Terdoslavich has a shot at being in a LF platoon with Gomes.

I was enjoying watching Smith play and I didn't like Cedric Hunter being cut so early and right after his 1-3 RBI game. I know he only had a few hits but he also walked three times, hit some line drives that just happened to be caught and got on base at least once every start he made (three times via walk along with the two hits) and didn't strikeout at all. I thought they'd give him a longer look given our outfield options but maybe they're leaning towards Joey T now with his hot start.

Whatever the case, I still like Hunter and expect he'll get another shot at some point as long as he doesn't take being cut like Joey T seemed to did last year. I thought Joey T struggled in part the first half last year because he was trying to do too much to make it back to the Majors.

Hunter also bungled a routine fly ball that allowed multiple runs to score.

Nice, so don't even mention that the wind and the sun effected the play. Hunter is a good defender and made some great defensive plays this spring. Let's not act like that doesn't happen to every outfielder from time to time. In fact, the wind has been effecting a lot of plays this ST.

To sum it up, I am sure Hunter being cut had nothing to do with such a fluke play.

If it was buried in the 30 pages of Hector Olivera, had to pass. Reading through all that would probably alter my eye prescription. :emot-siren.gif.17:

No, cleverly enough, it was mentioned in the constantly updated roster thread. I, too, avoid the Olivera rhetoric.

I think someone brought it up in the Spring Training thread too but with games news can also get buried fast in that thread.

Just seemed like cursory mentions, since Pastornicky received a lot of attention since coming over in the Escobar trade. This was with the expectation that he'd be a future starting middle IF. Veras was never really a Brave, so it's more like cutting bait.
