Braves DFA Ender

Now trade Morton to Toronto for Jordan Groshans, Dansby (with salary paid) to Oakland for Nick Allen, Smith/Pederson/Smyly to anyone that wants them. announce Freeman's extension, and call Waters and Pache up.

Edit: Expand the Morton deal to be Morton, Smith, and Pederson for Grichuk, Groshans, and C. J. Van Eyk. Then send Smyly to anyone who can use him.

This would be too good to be true.

I do think that Dansbae is promoted way too much by the Braves to be traded in the next week. One would hope the Braves part ways with him somehow this offseason while his salary is way too much for him and with the amount of good SS on the market.

That's simply not true. Swanson is expected to make ~10 million in his last year of arbitration in 2022. He's going to get to 2 fWAR this season. Now the $$/WAR was almost cut in half in the past offseason but I suspect things will revert to the normal ~9 $$/WAR for this offseason. So 2 WAR for ~10 million when 1 WAR is going to cost you ~9 on the open market then he's certainly not overpaid.

Now you can argue it might be a better option to trade him and upgrade the production but that's another story.

Unfortunately you're wrong there.

"Replacing" Acuna with Pederson gives you a LH bat that can back up CF, and with Waters and Pache in Gwinnett there wasn't any reason left to roster Ender.

Now you can make the argument that Panda should ALSO be cut loose and replaced with A-Jax so you can utilize Vogt as a PH/backup 1B and you'd be right too, but both moves need to happen - not one over the other.
 
Yeah, Ender was a great Brave. In fact, he’s the best CF’er we’ve had since Andruw. He also seems like a great dude. Screw those guys.

I’m not wrong. They’re both bad but Ender can at least run and play defense. Panda is trash in all phases of the game.
