"Huge upside bat" Gatorade N.C. prep player of the year. MLB.com lists him at 6-2, 210, but TV had him as listed above.

Davidson put on a power show at the Tournament of Stars in June, tying one record with two homers in a game (including one estimated at more than 500 feet) and setting another with three total at the event. He's built for power with a big, strong frame and plenty of bat speed. His reputation preceded him at the World Wood Bat Association World Championship in October, where few pitchers dared to challenge him. Davidson has a mature approach at the plate and is willing to take walks when he doesn't get strikes. His arm, which has been clocked in the low 90s both on the mound and from the outfield, gives him a third solid-or-better tool. He's a below-average runner but moves well enough to have a chance to play an outfield corner. A product of the Roberson High program that has produced big leaguers Darren Holmes, Cameron Maybin and Chris Narveson, Davidson has committed to North Carolina.

I like the pick. I wanted Gatewood, but glad we went high upside. No more Lipka or Golmartin type picks please.

We passed on Adams, Kopech and Forbes, who were all more associated with us in the speculation, in favor of Davidson. As usual, the team did a good job of hiding its intentions.

Don't know much about him, but he's got good size and seems to have some pretty decent upside. Hopefully he can stick in the OF with 1B blocked for the next 8 years. Initial reaction I like the pick. Doesn't hurt he seems to have personality and his redneck ways will fit right in with atlanta lol

In their final mock draft BA had Davidson going to the Red Sox at #33. Interesting. Would be all the sweeter if we snatched him from them. And hopefully he goes on to a bigger career than Chavis.

Good pick IMO, I like his potential with the bat. Hopefully he'll be better than some think defensively too.

Seems like a good 1st round pick. Really glad we took a hitter in the first round. Hopefully this guy will be able to stick in one of the corner outfield spots. Could be a long term replacement Upton or Heyward.

I think it was solid pick, though not my first choice. I always always always would go highest upside....especially in the MLB draft.

Keith Law had him ranked #16. So this year will we choose to believe Law is actually good at his job?

I don't know if you were a Braves' fan during the Chuck Lamar era, so I always amend it to "the person who has actually played baseball with the highest upside." Lamar could have put a good football team on the field.

I really like the pick. Braxton Davidson is a ML caliber name if I ever heard one. We really needed this kind of bat in the system. If Klesko can play LF so can this kid. A+ Wren.

Good point. When I say upside, guys that can actually play. I certainly remember the Lombard types.
