Nevermind didn’t see it in the off season thread
It’s amazing what happens when a player acts in good faith and actually tries to get a deal done.I do want to say something that gets glossed over on these extensions. It takes two to play.
Thanks to Chris Sale for being a good guy to entertain it and not going to FA every single opportunity to maybe maximize dollars.
You think he had control over his agent or his agent had control over him? It’s amazing what happens when a player acts in good faith and actually tries to get a deal done.
Oh, so, hypothetically there wouldn’t be 28 million reasons for a 32 year old to act in good faith? That only occurs when it’s 27 million AAV?I am sure there is 27 million reason a 38 year old would act in good faith. Imagine offering everyone you really wanted to keep above market contracts.
That would have came above him. But yeah if that's the case it does suck.Very unfortunate they would let the uncertainty of the tv deal linger long enough to prevent AA from making further investments in this year’s payroll.
I highly the organization intentionally “let the uncertainty […] linger” in some sort of orchestrated or willful act. Much more likely: the uncertainty lingered, and perhaps metastasized into a major impediment, whilst they tried to navigate, and eventually fully pivot, once the depths of the prior tv deal’s collapse came to light.Very unfortunate they would let the uncertainty of the tv deal linger long enough to prevent AA from making further investments in this year’s payroll.
