Considering the alternative ...

As for a timetable when the Braves will be competing for a championship again, that's changing, too.
"Some in our group would say mid-2016," Schuerholz said. "Some would say early 2017. I'd be happy with either one of those."

Lol mid 2016. Good PR speak there Jonny. I do think if our talent comes up and exceeds expectations we could compete this year but that's assuming all the right buttons are pressed.

You never know. A lot of people critisized the Astros for trading for Gattis since they werent likely to compete. Thinking back on it I remember a lot of our young prospects having their best years in their first few years as Braves. Francoeur, McCann, Jurrjens, Hanson, Davies, Charles Thomas, Langerhans, Kelly Johnson, Giles, etc. I think the turnaround will come mid 2017 and we have a strong second half going into 2018 when we will really be contenders. After 2018 we sign Bryce Harper and go to 10 straight world series...... and win 1.

The Astros also had a lot of young guys who can hit. We don't.

Well we did add some offense, and we certainly didn't lose much offense. People want to talk about our abysmal offense from last year, but our pitching was every bit as bad. Poor BP depth, a rotation full of truggling rookies and the struggles of JT. IMO, we should be much better in every facet of the game in 2016, aside from may be defense.

Wonder if we'd be willing to take Aaron Hill's $12 million for this year to get Drury back?

Arroyo/Toussaint Part 2 perhaps.

I forgot about Drury. But wouldn't we be taking two of their backup infielders? Why would they do that?

**never mind, just read the rumor about the Dbacks wanting Kendrick***

I wouldn't stop until we have every bad contract and promising prospect the Diamondbacks have to offer.

If we're not going to make a serious run at Cespedes, then I'd be all for that. Would kind of make the Beckham signing useless, but that's fine for a lost year. The really tricky part would be convincing Dave Stewart to answer a phone call from the Atlanta area code.

Except I'm still pretty sure Dave Stewart thinks these are great deals. When you think the value of a prospect is his signing bonus, I'm pretty sure you're not going to care what baseball analysts think about the deals you make.

Maybe I'm just hopelessly optimistic, but I can't believe someone who made it to the position of general manager would actually be that stupid.

I was thinking we had photos of Dave Stewart...
