BRAVES FINAL DRAFT SIGNING BOARD: Backstrom on board!

4 of the 6 high schoolers from rounds 11-19 now under contract. Joey Estes and Backstrom remain.

Morton seemed the sketchiest of the remaining three; I really hope Backstrom and Estes are announced in short order.

Callis has all the Braves draft news today:

6th-rder Tanner Gordon signs with @Braves for $212,500 (pick 187 = $257,400). Indiana RHP, 6-foot-5 with downhill fastball in low 90s. John A. Logan (Ill.) CC transfer. @MLBDraft

So the first five picks saved us roughly $1.5 million.

$167,000 to Paolini
$322,500 to Morton
$132,500 to Johnson
$225,000 for Grissom

Adds up to $847,000 among the 4 we have figures for. So we have roughly $700,000 of the pool savings from the top 5 to sign the remaining top 10 picks, Backstrom, Estes and anybody else we want to go over for, before we account for the amount we can go over our pool before we incur penalties. I am getting optimistic we can sign that entire 11-19 stretch.

Edit: Forgot Grissom

Almost $45k in savings. It all adds up.

Adds up to $622,000 among the 3 we have figures for. I believe the front page is wrong and it’s 267,000 to Paolini

Gotcha. So about $600,000 to spread amongst the rest. If you figure on about $200,000 each to Owens, Backstrom and Estes we can get them all, assuming there are no big overslots in the top 10. Gordon also saves us $40,000 and I hadn’t seen how far underslot Harris was, which was also $40,000.

Considering we went heavy in the 10-19 rounds, has anyone found a good write up on these prospects? I find the strategy intriguing considering the international sanctions, but find myself having a tough time being excited about any of the guys individually.

Wow. Unless DeVito, Milligan or Parker are massively overslot, I’m pretty confident we’re sigining Backstrom and Estes. Starting to wonder if some of the later prep players are in play.

More from bowman to complete the top 10 rounds:

More Braves draft signing bonuses (w/in first 10 rds): Tanner Gordon $212,500 ($44,900 under slot); Darius Vines $127,500 ($74,100 under slot); Ricky DeVito $167,500 ($1,400 over slot); Cody Milligan $197,500 ($46,200 over slot); Brandon Parker $140,700 ($2,500 under slot)

Beckstrom is a must get! Huge power potential remind me a lot of Ryan Howard!

Talking Chop has $830,810 left (including the 5% overage).

$415,405 each to Estes and Backstrom and call it a day?

Only the amount over $125,000 is counted, so we really have quite the sum of money left assuming none of the college guys we’ve signed are way over slot.

Yeah - just gave their chart a quick look to see what figures they had since they've generally been a bit slow updating it. First year I haven't tracked it closely in a while.

Will be really interesting to see how this one works out. Would still imagine it would be tough to replicate this many Day 3 HS signings in the future, but this could be awesome given the international issues.

Kadon Morton signing is one of the true cornerstones of this draft. More and more impressed with the overall job Brown and scouts did.
