Braves fire Seitzer and assistant hitting coach. Also Fasano.

Seitzer isn’t analytically driven? You guys think he wasn’t teaching the organizational philosophy? I mean, he was clearly preaching LA which is analytically driven.

Good. Hopefully, they'll hire someone who preaches situational awareness in the batter's box, rather than everyone's just swing for 500-foot homers every AB. I'm still mystified how it's remotely possible to have no sacrifice flies by a team until July.

There’s no way that last sentence is factually true.

Sorry, I may have been thinking sac bunts. Mea culpa. Still, their situational awareness and scoring from 3B with less than 2 outs suuuucked. More small ball needed.

Braves led MLB in batting average with RISP (I know that’s not your exact point, but I think that’s a reasonable proxy for “small ball”).

Seems like an overreaction. Olson and Arcia were the only regulars that didn't miss signifigant playing time and they both had down years (understatement in Arcia's case)

Everyone except for Ozuna had a down year. Kelenic sucked, not fixed (somehow actually worse than 2023 while in a toxic situation in a worse park). Arcia sucked, not fixed. Murphy sucked, not fixed. Most of the year giving up 3-4 runs in a game was a death sentence. Too much talent/money in the team to watch those ABs all year, even when removing the injured players, IMO. Wish it had turned around convincingly at some point, but it never did, culminating in striking out 48 times against Michael King.

If Seitzer gets credit for the historic season last year, he has to get blame for this garbage offense that was miserable to watch. I tend to think it was mostly down to the players both years, but he sure didn't seem to be able to push the right buttons after the wheels fell off in what, May? and we showed very little change in approach or outcomes. Gotta try someone else.

The offense really needed a wake-up call in like June at the latest, and I'm surprised/a little disappointed in management that it didn't happen then. I guess in a way it doesn't make sense to let the ship run into the ground and only then fire the navigator.

Moreover:

If you read his exit interview, Seitzer basically fired himself. He admits he lost his way reaching the guys emotionally/psychologically. It sounds like Anthopoulos planned to keep the coaching staff together, and then Seitzer shot himself in the dick during the season’s post-mortem.

Tinkering with Olson's swing after a career year is reason enough. Throw in messing up kelenic after AA sold his firstborn to get him, and I'm fine with it.

Acuna ended his season with 4 HR and a .716 OPS. Let's not forget that he did play 2 full months and looked like a shadow of his MVP self. Ozzie was way below his established level of production. So was Riley. So was Harris. None of the injured guys performed well up until their injuries.

I don't know how much Seitzer is to blame, but it seems clear that this offense needs a breath of fresh air and someone who can teach a smarter approach to hitting. We have a lineup full of guess hitters with only a rough concept of the strike zone. Maybe they are all beyond saving, but it's easier to try a new hitting coach first.

Hitting is not the only thing wrong with this team. They can't run the bases worth a ****, the defense isn't getting better, and they just don't seem to have any sort of situational awareness - about anything. Pitching staff kept this from being a sub-.500 season.

Where can you find that?
