AJP was the worst in DRS among catchers last year too (note is -5 DRS is the worst right now) to go along with bad pitch framing and shoot just catching pop ups and balls thrown good to him at the plate. I have never seen a worse starting catcher than him right now.

Yea, I am not interested in seeing Recker play for us even in AAA. Lavarnway actually has earned a shot with us in a rebuild year IMO. If we were wise we'd retire AJP and go with Lavarnway-Flowers combo and then call up Astudillo to be the third catcher when the rosters expand.

I found it funny some folks on other forums speculating that we may trade AJP at some point. AJP could've been traded last year due to his bat, but this year it's not happening. I could see this being a depth move because of talks with other teams interested in one of our other catchers at AAA. Remember, there was even talk at the end of Spring Training that Lavarnway or Lalli could be traded to a team needing a back-up catcher. Maybe that talk is alive again.

If Coppy really believes that nonsense we are in trouble even after Fredi is gone. He's said some other things like that no one into advanced stats say, which begs the question is it just a BS line or does he really believe it? If the latter then I cannot trust his judgement outside of dealing with idiots in Arizona.
