If Gaus and Folty look to be getting straightened out by the time DK is ready, Fried may be the correct choice for the BP.

Fried in the BP lessens the need to add a LH BP arm via trade.

Fried likely also has an innings limit...consider:

2016: 103 IP
2017: 118 IP
2018: 111 IP
2019: 66 IP, will be 80+ by the time DK is ready

I'm thinking they may do something more creative to lessen workloads than simply sending a guy to the BP.

And that is one more nice addition to the bullpen. So that’s solving two problems with one move.

I also feel like one of Weigel and Ynoa will bring down their walks and contribute.

I wonder how front offices calculate the difference in starter innings vs reliever innings when deciding on innings limits. I think they have to weigh 6 innings spread over four appearances with four warmups in a week as more arm wear than the same pitcher would get from one 6 inning start.

I have to imagine modern FOs are measuring pitcher usage and the need for rest in more sophisticated ways than innings counts, but it's the easiest thing for us to talk about in the public sphere.

Teams likely use data on spin rates and velocity and location and who knows what else that allows them to say "Joe Pitcher is getting tired, he needs 10 days".

I do have a hard time believing we offered CK a multi year deal that was fully guaranteed. May be 1.5 years guaranteed with an option year, but that's about as far as I imagine the Braves going.

Interesting, but Rosenthal said the Rays came in second with their offer. I dont think the Braves wanted to go 3-4 years with Kimbrel.

Which means if they can swing a package with Stroman or Madbum that includes relievers ...that’s still in play.

That would also move Fried to the bull pen and limit his innings which would be win/win to me.

What I don’t get is the faillies. How could they not spend some coin to grab one of these guys. Their pen is crushed and they are moving starters there which weakens the rotation. Wonder if neither guy wanted to pitch their with that small park.

I mean they can trade but their minors are already weakened.
