Braves interested in Jurickson Profar

I like the low-risk, high-reward component of a Profar deal. Just hope the Braves don't view him as a long term option at 2B in the event they move Albies.

Profar / SRod / Albies somewhat redundant for 2018 purposes as 2Bs with strong platoon splits against LHP. Makes you wonder if their intent to move Albies for MLB pitching.

Would love this as someone who can play 3B and OF. Going forward those are big holes for the team. Maybe Profar finally clicks and he fills that gap for the next three years.

I would trade Sims and Garcia.

I would trade Sims and Garcia.

That would be a great deal for us.

With Sims? Idk...Profar is pretty bad

2012 .647 OPS -0.2 WAR
2013 .644 OPS 0.1 WAR
2016 .660 OPS 0.0 WAR
2017 .501 OPS -0.1 WAR

Profar seems like someone we'd trade for if we dealt Albies. Makes me wonder what the front office has planned.

I don't think Albies figures too much in this kind of trade. It is about dealing a rental like Garcia for a guy with some potential.

I'm sure they see him as a buy low candidate with the potential to turn it around. Fine as long as they make him earn his spot rather than give it to him.

Former highly touted prospect who can't play at this level. Another reason why you don't just go with prospects.

I'd love to have him for Garcia.

Profar could be kemps defensive replacement. Ruiz comargo srod profar gives you lots of options at 3b and off bench.

Could keep albies down and get another control year. Keep rio down to work on in game power and lefties

If your bench was profar srod comargo you could afford to keep Matt Adams as a bench bat...although braves couldn't carry a million putchers

I can't think of a better realistic return for Garcia than Profar. He is definitely a guy worth buying low on when the cost is...basically nothing.

If the Braves do get Profar, I would immediately look to extend him.

He is currently making $1m and will be hitting arb in 2018 and 2019, his age 25 and 26 seasons.

Offer him $5m total for his 2 arb seasons, and then buy as many of his FA seasons as possible for ~$5m each with a $1m buyout.

If he rebounds, the Braves just bought an impact player through his entire 20s for $10m-$20m.

If he continues to be a 0 win guy that's always hurt, the Braves wasted $6m.
