Braves interested in Jurickson Profar

If the Braves do get Profar, I would immediately look to extend him.

He is currently making $1m and will be hitting arb in 2018 and 2019, his age 25 and 26 seasons.

Offer him $5m total for his 2 arb seasons, and then buy as many of his FA seasons as possible for ~$5m each with a $1m buyout.

If he rebounds, the Braves just bought an impact player through his entire 20s for $10m-$20m.

If he continues to be a 0 win guy that's always hurt, the Braves wasted $6m.

Exactly this. Enscheff is on point per usual.

If we are only having to give up I-Me, then that deal needed to be done yesterday. I am not a huge fan of Profar, but a change in scenery and perhaps a new hitting coach could get something going. Kid had some tools.

Certainly can't see a couple months worth of Garcia getting it done. Will be interesting to hear what Daniels' asking price is.

In spite of the pedigree, I suspect Profar is a nothing burger. But Garcia is a rental. Might as well get a lottery ticket out of him.

Yea, he missed two years in 14 and 15 with shoulder injuries. Really stunted his development.

There's a good bit to like. He can play everywhere. 1b, 2b, 3b, SS, LF. He's showing good plate discipline in AAA this year. He was rated the best prospect in the minors back to back years before his injury.

The bad? The injury may have sapped his power. Only 12 HR in his last 700 AB in AAA and MLB. There's still some potential here. Probably more like a Martin Prado ceiling though.

As with anything it depends on the price. If it takes one of our expiring veterans of a couple non-elite pitching prospect like the Alex Jackson trade I'm all for it.
